These works are meditations on the construction of place, both in the instantaneous and ongoing perception of a physical environment and in memory, and the ways that these constructions can and cannot be felt and communicated.

The simultaneous familiarity and unfamiliarity with a place; haunted nostalgia for something half-remembered; intangible sense of belonging found in transient/unfamiliar/imaginary locations; the bittersweet sadness and nondirectional love/loss found within mundane rituals of life's movements; the emotional associations that can be attached to everyday nondescript locations and situations that can be felt but never completely explained.

It is in this sensation - of a deeply experienced truth (of emotion, of memory, of belonging or forgetting) and the simultaneous inability to speak that truth and to fully have it be understood or believed - that we are Cassandra.
